“The Mini’s heritage is very dear to many people’s hearts and we felt that our new Mini style branding should reflect this and be influenced by the classic retro mini-style graphics. Our existing Mini Cooper style numbered Mini’s have been very popular over the last year, this time we felt we had to go one better!”
“We wanted to visually represent speed in our artwork – we tried a ‘Go-Faster’ stripes design but this was not powerful enough, then we tried giant wording on the side of the car representing speed, but felt it intrusive and lacked finesse, finally we saw some photo’s of Mini’s from the 1970’s that had 2 chequered flags on their bonnets and the concept was born.”
The finished design as you see it now went through several transitions from the drawing board to the computer. It was decided that an abstract flowing chequered flag design worked best and Ben at Premier Signs was tasked with producing the finished artwork.
One of the Mini’s was commandeered for a day and the test graphics were applied – they turned out perfect and the fleet of Mini’s were booked in over a 4 day period to be valeted, stripped of their old graphics and re-branded with their stunning new livery.
