Getting warmed-up for the Fun Run |
| |
|
Organisation for the Event started in March 2006, a lot goes into something like this and Phil Pittock of the Thanet Roadruners Athletic Club and Race Director was the main driving force behind the Run. Darren Ellis of D.J. Ellis Construction also had a big hand in pulling everyone together, all contributions were offered with ‘no charge’ including the printing of 1000's of Posters by Capital Press Design & Print. This year the emphasis was on families and many more turned up and got into the spirit of things. There were lots of attractions to keep everybody happy; The KMFM Roadshow, Bouncy Castle, BBQ, Massage Stand, Ice Cream Vans and a Fancy Dress Competition. Lots of people came and registered on the day of the Run and it was up to Karen Hirst and her Administration Team from Miles & Barr to make sure everyone got their Race Numbers in time for the Start! Bannatyne’s Gym was there to help get the crowd warmed-up for the Run that was over a distance of 5K! Quite a distance for the youngsters but as we saw, they did better than a lot of us oldies!

The Run and the Winners! |
| |
|
As the sun shone down the final warm-up exercises were over and it was up to Sandy Ezekiel, the Leader of Thanet District Council, to start the race! The Club Runners shot off at a breakneck pace with the rest of us trying in vain to keep up. The youngest participant was 9 months of age and the oldest in his late 70’s (both did better than some of us!). It really was a FUN Event and at the end the Presentation of Trophies was made to the Winners of each different section.

Press Advertisements |

The Press Advertising was a huge factor in the build-up to the Run and Miles & Barr Marketing created striking visuals to attract people to the Event. The Illustration was done by Sascha Cort, aged 11, who captured the essence of the run in her colourful drawing.

Our website graphics mirrored everything we were producing from the Posters to the Press Ads and our website design company, Wisdom Solutions Ltd, did a fantastic job with their animation.
